So, after all of the marathon production sewing for the Winter Faire at our school, I honestly had not gone back into the "sewing studio" for a month or two (other than to grab supplies, etc.) I have focused all of my creative energies since then on knitting (so. much. knitting.) and photography...
I also realized that before I could get back into the fabric and the needle, that I needed to clear and clean out the studio. So... long story short, as evidenced by the following photographs, I have cleaned, cleared and made. Sewing is sooo good, but I think that when I am in "production mode" I forget sometimes as I am so focused on the end. Dont get me wrong... if I could sew all day long and still feed my family (and provide health care and sturdy shoes...) well, i would probably miss teaching teenagers all day at some point. Anyway, the point is that I love sewing, but what I most love about sewing is designing and the possibilities. Oh, and when people actually use/wear what I make... well, that is just the best. So, without further ado, here is the latest in spring fashion around these parts...
his pair {he will have more in the "part II" of this post}
fabric is linen Echino by Etsuko Furuya. he only has one pair because i decided to line these with cotton knit and give them a stretch velvet waistband.
far too much detail for one pair of tiny pants {that will be muddy within minutes, literally} but it was fun...
here is where he tries to be serious about the photo shoot...
reflective, even...
but then the sillies got the best of him!
enter big sister...
...
and the bed jumping...
so, i thought maybe the rocking chair would slow them down so i could get some solid shots...
but then the tickling started...
...
ignore the muddy bottoms of this pair. ;)
these turned out much more bell bottomed than i had planned, but she loves them fortunately (I do too)
and maybe they will look like cute capris rather than high water pants when she sprouts up a few more inches!
you have to be quick around here before someone starts dancing... ;)
here is the full spread (minus the tan striped above which are organic cotton knit). pink pair is anna maria horner, the stripes and the far left (michael miller scandi chirp- which was a DREAM to work with as far as knits go! so thick and it actually behaved instead of curling up when it came to seams!) are cotton knit, and the pair on the right were pieced together from vintage sheet fabric from this cool shop!
so, there will be a part II to this fun with pants... stay tuned for more boy pants and perhaps some baby girl pants for a special someone... ;)
